Witness – The Greatest Joy

The LORD will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.
Isaiah 52:10

You may think it has taken me some time to get there but today we think of the furrow of ‘Witness’.  Witness of course to the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ.  This is where the joyous of joys comes.

Let me first ask a basic question:  Do you know the Joy of your Salvation?  If you’re not sure how to answer, then please let me encourage you to contact me.  If we haven’t responded to the great good news invitation to follow Jesus then all the furrows I have been talking about are going to be hard to dig!

To keep the metaphor going (but let’s not overstretch it) Our Salvation is the ‘hoe’ with which we dig all the furrows and it is certainly what is needed to dig the furrow of witness.  We are all called to witness to the Love of God discovered in the Person of Jesus and lived in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

All the other furrows (and I have more for you next week) need digging but this furrow is God’s clear uppermost intention from ages past that ‘all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God’.  Jesus himself said it; ‘this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.’ (Matthew 24:14).

We witness to all that God has done, to all that he will do, and we make it real as we witness to all he could do in a person’s life.  You can dig no greater furrow for Joy to Flow!  Are you scared to share your faith?  I tell you that when you start to do it you discover it is great fun!  Who can you have fun with today?
