Prompted by thinking about the pillars of fire and cloud guiding the Israelites we continue to think of how God is with us. How does the Lord accompany you when you walk in obedience? “Do not be afraid of man, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 1:8.
In scripture the clouds often represent the presence of God. (See Psalm 78:14 and Daniel 7:2). Make space today to observe the movement of the clouds in the sky. Observe how the cloud coverage provides protection from the sun and accompanies a storm by bringing rain. Even through the clouds, God provides protection and provision. What else do you observe?
God also guides and protects us with the prompting of His Holy Spirit. Read John 10:2-4. How does the shepherd lead His sheep? Read John 10:27. Are you a listener? Does this verse echo in your heart that you need to draw near to the shepherd so you can hear His voice? If you do not hear from Him, how can you follow?
Lord, Today we thank You and acknowledge that You are our pillar of cloud by day and our pillar of fire by night. We want to be obedient to Your will over our lives. We commit ourselves into Your hands declaring that we will follow wherever You lead. Help us recognize and identify Your pillar of cloud by day and Your pillar of fire by night. Help us remain obedient no matter how challenging or difficult it may seem because we know You will deliver us. Thank You that You never leave us nor forsake us. You are always ahead of us and always lead us into safe places and onto dry land. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
